Using Dutch experience of volunteers and professionals to stimulate ornithological research and conservation in Georgia

CAUCASUS   PROGRAMME

BirdLife International  and the local partner SABUKO (in Tbilisi) support the masterplan of AKN (2015) on “Dutch-Georgian collaboration in bird research and fieldwork”. The plan fits in the Caucasus programme of BirdLife International.  In the current version of our plan we concentrate on publishing results of 40 years ornithological fieldwork by ornithologists of  the ILia State University in Tbilisi.

This includes:

• Fundraising for fieldwork in Georgia to fill knowledge gaps;
• Reviewing drafts for publishing results;
• Fundraising for the publishing of a Field Guide for Georgian bird watchers.
